" Seekers on the spiritual path are curious to know about Enlightenment.

What is Enlightenment?

I say, Enlightenment is like a joke It is like a fish in the ocean searching for the ocean. Once upon a time, there was a congregation of fish, who got together to discuss who among them had seen the ocean. None of them could say they had actually seen the ocean. Then one fish said, I think my great grandfather had seen the ocean A second fish said, Yes, yes, I have also heard about this. A third fish said, Yes, certainly, his great grandfather had seen the ocean. So they built a huge temple and made a statue of the great grandfather of that particular fish They said, He had seen the ocean. He had been connected with the ocean.

Enlightenment is the very core of our being going to the core of our self and

living our life from there. We all came into this world gifted with innocence, but

gradually, as we became more intelligent, we lost our innocence. We

were born with silence and as we grew up, we lost the silence and were

filled with words. We lived in our hearts and as time passed, we moved

into our heads. Now the reversal of this journey is enlightenment. It

is the journey from the head back to the heart, from words back to

silence getting back to our innocence in spite of our intelligence.

Although very simple, this is a great achievement.

Knowledge should lead you to that beautiful point of I dont know. The purpose of knowledge is ignorance The completion of knowledge will lead you to amazement and wonder. It makes you aware of this existence. Mysteries are to be lived, not understood. One can live life as fully in its completeness, in its totality. Enlightenment is that state of being mature and unshakable under any circumstances. Come what may, nothing can rob the smile from your heart. Going beyond the limited boundaries, and feeling all that exists in this universe belongs to me, is enlightenment. Unenlightenment is easy to define. It is limiting yourself by saying, I belong to this particular place, I am from that culture or I belong to this religion. It is like children saying, My dad is better than your dad, or My toy is better than your toy. I think most people around the world are stuck in that mental age group, just the toys have changed. Adults say, My country is better than your country or my religion is better than your religion. A Christian will say, The Bible is truth, and a Hindu will say, The Vedas are the truth. They are very ancient. Muslims will say, The Koran is the last word of God. We attribute glory to something just because we are from that culture, not for what it is.

If one could take credit for all that exists throughout the ages and feel as though It belongs to me, then, that is maturity. This is my wealth because I belong to the divine. The Divine, according to time and space, gave

different knowledge in different places. One becomes the knower of the whole universe and can say all the beautiful flowers are from my garden. The whole evolution of man is from being somebody to being nobody, and from being nobody to being everybody.

Have you observed that young children have that sense of belonging that oneness, that innocence? As we grew up we lost that innocence and became more cunning. The innocence of an ignorant man has no value, and the cunningness of an intelligent man also has no value. Enlightenment is a rare combination of innocence and intelligence, having words for expression and, at the same time, being very silent. In that state the mind is fully in the present moment. Whatever is necessary is revealed to you in such a natural and spontaneous way, you just sit and the song of the nature flows through you."

Sri Sri:You should never do thoughtless action or you will be in trouble. Thereare two dimensions of our life. Sometimes you act without thinking andsometimes you only think and don’t act. Source of both - thought andaction - is you. Knowing who you are, your thoughts get streamlined andactions become perfect. Your thoughts and actions are aligned.

Q: How to learn from experience? Often we keep doing the same thing but don’t learn.

Sri Sri:If you keep doing the same thing again and again, knowing that itbrings you misery, you really don’t understand it brings you misery oryou think it brings you some pleasure. Craving for pleasure andnon-awareness that it is going to cause you misery are two things whichmakes you commit the same mistake again and again. That’s why they’recalled habit. Habits don’t give you pleasure but they inflict pain bynot following them.

Q: How to handle people who argue using kutarka (wrong logic)?

Sri Sri: Intelligentpeople never argue, especially bhaktas, lovers, devotees never argue.It is said in the Narada bhakti sutra that if you are a devotee, youare lover of God, you never argue. Arguments have got no loyalty. Theycan go this way or that.
There are eight types of kutarkas. Itell you our nation, Vedic philosophy has tremendous knowledge, insighton this aspect. Like one is ‘pitanga’ – conveniently quoting one lineand forgetting the other line. The second type is ‘I am saying so it isright’. Different types of logic to confuse you and make you feel likeyou have won.
At the time of Adi Shankracharya, ancient time twogarlands were put on people involved in arguments. It was believed thatthe one who is wrong, who is trying to prove something wrong, hisgarland will wither away and the one who is authentic and trying to putforward the truth, his garland will stay. That is how Adi Shankracharyawon arguments from place to place.
Wise people don’t get into arguments. They say, ‘Ok you want to win, ok you win.’

Q: How can we love someone who did a terrible thing to us?

Sri Sri: Don’tlove them. Just accept them. First accept and then see the culprit notas a culprit but a victim. Due to circumstances they did so. If theywould have had wisdom they wouldn’t have done it.
Just a fewdays ago, a lady came to the ashram. She has three children and herhusband was killed by Maoists. Later she became an Art of Livingteacher and when she went back, she taught the Maoists Sudarshan Kriyaand pranayama. Maoists were so amazed. They asked her: ‘You are notangry with us, we killed your husband?’ She said, ‘No, you didn’t haveknowledge of what you were doing. I want you to be in knowledge’. Theyall did Sudarshan Kriya, pranayama and left the path of violence. Theywere crying in front of her like babies. The way she described broughttears in everybody’s eyes. All those 2000 people present had tears ineyes.
This is the power of wisdom. It unites people of all roles and attitudes.

Issi khushi me was surfing net, visiting few of blogs I generally do, wen came across this winter break post by Bau 7 News from the Winter Break 2009-10 which read abt recent winter's international yes+adv (which frm past 2yrs m nt able to attain as it happns to be my exam dates or near ) which took place in ashram with 1382 youth frm many part of world, who had an absolute blast &; this tym we had "in addition to the course" an array of inspiring speakers from January 2^nd and 3^rd talkin to everyone about their personal passions, to name few : Dynamics of Creative Thinking by Montoo Bassi , Intimate chit chat with the ex chief justice of India, Justice Venkatachaliya , Interaction with Suhas Gopinath one of the youngest CEOs just 21 yrs and so on... haaate it!! feeling jealous completely ( accomplishing bau's mission ) wid ppl who had been so lucky to atten... thot i sud have been der felt as if i cud turn bck tym &; somhw atten it, missed a real big time man! chiiiip!!! a tear rolld down &; at tht very moment, was an apt time for the knowledge point to arrive "live in present nupur! live in present!" acccccept!!!!!!!!!! acceptin it i knew, ahead der is much better watin jus for me, may be this summer magic bau talked abt is "THE ONE" ... wer 10,000 youth frm oll over
wud unite ... instruction r olready out for construction of 500 new rooms & a new hall in ashram tht wud host 10,000 youth WOW!!! sounds really interesting HAHH!! felin bettr.... opportunity on way... knock! knock!

...woke up at Anjana di’s house with a song in his head. and a couple of hours later, the song came out in rap (or ‘rapchick’) style. He asked one of the best song-maker he knew, to set it to music and sing it (lyrics are below). Click That thing you do with your nose to listen to the song . AND I LOVED IT A LOTz (so apt it is) SO HERE IT ARRIVES AT MAH BLOG!!!

Sri Sri: People used to say this in 1999 - that world will be destroyed before the Millennium. In fact, in Canada people stocked up six months worth of groceries (laughs).
There will be a positive spiritual shift that will happen. You know, people are meditating in Terra Del Fiago (near South Pole) and in Norway (near North Pole) and chanting Om Nama Shivaya, becoming vegetarians and taking up Indian traditions.

The second day of the advanced meditation program in Kannada saw songs of deep meaning being sung in satsang.

One participant had composed a song based on the wisdom from the previous day. The song was a declaration of the beautiful, ‘I don’t know’ and a realization of the foolish mind that thinks that it knows.

Sri Sri: You know, when one accepts that one is a fool then he is actually intelligent. A real fool does not recognize his foolishness.
We are in a universe full of secrets.

We are floating in the ocean of infinite secrets. There are infinite secrets in every atom. Science tries to discover and reveal these secrets but this attempt is like trying to discover the ocean in a small boat. It is that small, and there is so much more left to discover, which is impossible. And when science tries to find one secret, ten more arise. No scientist can say that, ‘I know all the secrets of the universe’. No one can say that. As science discovers more, it finds that there is so much more that is unknown, a secret.

So, love the secret! Honor the secret! This is the Chidambara rahasya. There are infinite secrets in the consciousness. You can’t understand all of them. The sky is endless. Like the sky, even secrets are endless. Our ancestors honored secrecy. A mantra is kept secret when we want to do japa (chant).

What you keep as a secret, grows. We don’t express our love, we don’t say ‘I love you’ everyday. When you are so deeply in love, just one glance is enough. Sometimes by saying it so many times, the love diminishes. If you do not express yourself at all, then also it is of no use.

There is the appropriate way to express your life experiences. It should be like sowing a seed. It is a sown a few inches deep, not just on the surface level nor too deep. Then the relationship lasts for the whole lifetime. No child tells the mother, ‘I love you’, all the time- it is shown through his actions.

A yogi always does things in moderation - neither too much work nor sleep. Neither too much food nor too much fasting is favorable. It is not a favorable solution.
If you don’t eat for days or do such things then it is not only a torture for your body but also a torture for your soul. So have moderation in your food, interactions and speech. Then yoga siddhi (state of perfection) is attained and all sadness fades away. So, to become free from sorrow continue to do your sadhana and meditation.

Meditation happens to us. We don’t have to do it, with an effort. And the solution to be free from any obstacle to meditation is to sit in that space of the beautiful ‘I don’t know’.

In the Chidambaram temple, there is a screen and behind it there is only a wall. It looks as if you are bowing down to a wall but there is a deeper meaning behind it. It signifies the akasha tattva (the space principle). When you move the screen, the space is revealed. When you remove the veil of illusion and desires, you experience the vast infinite inner space. For a few moments your mind becomes free from thoughts. We realize that there is some secret of which we have had a small glimpse, like a flash, and this experience brings a transformation in life.

Q) Guruji, you have said to love the secret, but I feel curious to know it also!
Sri Sri: Curiosity is natural. It sharpens the intellect. Loving the secret refines the feeling level. Life is a balance of the intellect and the feelings.

I was thinkin to end up the celebration but by then it had ended already nd my idea of endin remaind in thoughts(didnt grab the oppourtunity on time ) So thout to pen it down, rather post it down..( makin it sure this time i grab the oppourtunity by way of blogin) ...
